US stocks open mixed after inflation data

ISTANBUL (AA) – US stocks opened Wednesday mixed after fresh inflation data, up 8.3% year-on-year in April.

The Dow Jones industrial average opened the midweek at 32,161 points at 9.30 a.m. EDT (1130GMT), up 0.02%.

The S&P 500 rose 0.06% to 4,003 points, while the Nasdaq was down 0.37% to 11,700 points.

The VIX volatility index, known as the fear index, fell 0.27% to 32.9 as of 1633GMT. The dollar index dropped 0.28% to 103.6.

Gold rose 0.35% to $1,847.47 per ounce, while global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading at $106.8.
