US telecommunications firm Comcast posts record 2022 figures

Streaming service Peacock also posts quarterly record in paid subscribers during October-December

ISTANBUL (AA) – US-based multinational telecommunications conglomerate Comcast reported record financial figures for the full year of 2022, according to its results statement issued on Thursday.

The nation's biggest pay-TV and cable provider saw its revenue climbed to $121 billion last year, up 4.3% from $116 billion in 2021.

"We achieved the highest levels of revenue ... and returned a record $17.7 billion of capital to shareholders," chairman and CEO Brian L. Roberts said in the statement.

Roberts said the company also grew its wireless lines by 1.3 million, its best result since its launch.

The firm said its theme parks, such as Universal Studios, also delivered the highest earnings on record for a fourth quarter, driven by higher attendance.

Streaming service Peacock, owned and operated NBCUniversal that is a subsidiary of Comcast, saw its paid subscribers in the US more than doubled to surpass 20 million last year, while its revenue nearly tripled to $2.1 billion, according to the statement.

Peacock added 5 million paid subscribers during the October-December period of last year – a quarterly record since its launch in 2020.
