World steel production down 3.4% in February

ISTANBUL (AA) - World steel production went down by 3.4% to 144.7 million tons year-on-year in February, the World Steel Association (worldsteel) said on Tuesday.

China produced 78.9 million tons of steel in February 2025, down 3.3%; India produced 12.7 million tons, up 6.3%; Japan produced 6.4 million tons, down 8.5%, the association said.

The US produced 6 million tons, down 7%; Russia produced 5.8 million tons, down 3.4%; and South Korea produced 5.2 million tons, up 0.7%, it added.

It also said Türkiye produced 2.9 million tons of steel, down 5.6% over the same period.

Among regions, the largest production was made by Asia and Oceania, with 107.3 million tons.

During the January-February period, the world steel production was at 302 million tons, down 2.2%.
